usb modem help

Hi
I disabling my modem in the network section in order to enable my network card for my dbox file upload in flash fxp as it is recommended that you have only the network card enabled for the file upload and also that you disable any fire wall or anti-virus programme this i did,all went well uploaded files dbox is now updated,
I then went back to the network setup and disabled the network cardi then tried to enable my motorola surfboard usb when i pressed the enable i was meet with a blue sceen,saying

Aproblem has accured and windows has shut down to prevent damage if you have loaded any new software use safe mode to remove it or check to see if there are any updates for that programme
Stop 0x0000008e (oxc0000005) 0x0001000d, 0xf8990f54, 0x00000000,
Beginning dump of phyical memory to disk.it is then doing a count down after which it reboots back to windows.
I have not instslled any new programmes for weeks so i dont know what the cause is

Can u guys point me in the right direction i'm running win xp pro
