My computer does not recognize the connection to my Samsung camera. I get a popup that says "USB device not recognized. One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned". I downloaded a few pictures 7 days, all worked fine. Then 5 days ago I got a virus about Security Professional, that pretends to scan your computer and tells you that you have viruses when they are in fact the bug. I have SuperAntispyware Professional, AVG free, AdAware, SpywareBlaster, and SpywareGuard, none of which caught this virus. The virus was the only thing was happened differently to my computer in the past week, it pretty much locked up the computer and I finally got rid of it through SuperAntispyware. I have since scanned with all the above antispyware and they all say I am clean. I have reloaded the Samsung camera software, in case that was a problem. I have also turned off the computer and unplugged it from all power(this was recommended from a person on a Microsoft forum, many others on the forum said this helped them resolve a similar problem). What else should I do for the computer to recognize the camera usb cord?

    Hi

One thing you can try is (with the camera connected) going into Device Manager (if Windows 7, simply type "device manager" in the start menu search, it will pop up), expand the Universal Serial Bus Controllers (near the bottom), and look for yellow signs that might be related to your camera. Right click and click Uninstall to remove the USB driver, and then unplug the camera, restart the computer, and connect it again. This essentially resets the connection as if it's being connected for the first time.

I believe the inability for my camera to be accepted through the usb connection is related to the Virus I got last week. Does MajorGeeks do a log check of some sort?

I apologize for not replying sooner. I had posted in a different forum, they got back to me and I spent MANY hours scanning for a virus, 2 were found by Kaspersky and were removed.
The camera is still not recognized, it shows up as Unknown Device in Device Manager. Guess that should be posted in another forum than this.

Follow what mcsmc recommended in post #2 above.
You'll be removing what is unrecognized then when you plug the camera in, the "found new hardware" should appear.

I did look, there were no yellow signs. The only difference in Device Manager with the camera unhooked and hooked was under Universal Serial Bus Controllers there was an Unknown Device when the camera was plugged into the usb port.

With the camera plugged into the usb port, I went into Universal Serial Bus Controllers and uninstalled Unknown Device, rebooted and hooked up the camera. There appears to be some progress as now the light on the cable from the camera to the computer is green(it has been red for the past week) and the computer had a popup saying Device driver software installed successfully. But when I try to transfer from the camera to the computer it still says USB device not recognized. Wonder if I should use the camera cd again?
