    Hello people,

I have this grave situation. I bought a 4GB PNY pen drive and I locked it using USB enter software. Later after a month the subscription to this software expired and accidentally I formatted my pen drive. Now I can see only 541KB memory available on pen drive. Rest of the space is locked somewhere in the folder which was allocated to USB enter software and which I formatted. I tried everything and searched every forum and nothing of help. Can anyone please help me with this....I am using Windows 7 and XP both.

Are you trying to recover the data from the drive or are you trying to get the full amount of memory back?

This explains it and says "That explains why even after formatting the drive the encrypted data is untouched as it only formats the 476KB removing the unlocker and autorun file."

That article is several years old and I don't know if this will still work:
"While playing around with this tool, I found a bug which is able to bypass the encryption by simply changing the drive letter. However doing that will make you loose all your files on your encrypted space."

I could have sworn I saw an identical post to this a day or so ago, maybe on another forum?

Many forums lock topics like these because there is no way of proving that the hardware or data actually belongs to the OP.

With the drive connected, can you go into Disk Management and delete any partitions shown. Then repartition and format. If you cannot do it with Disk Management, try Partition Wizard. See if you can delete the partitions with Partition Wizard. If that does not work, Partition Wizard can wipe the drive. It should wipe everything on the device including the encrypted partition. Just make sure you have selected the USB flash drive and not your computer hard drive. After wiping the drive create a new partition and format.

My take is that the encryption software may well have been inserted into the firmware area of the drive, and that incorrectly removing it has effectively told the firmware (and therefore Windows) that it's a completely different drive size. Does the name as shown by Windows Device Manager tie in with the make and model of the drive itself?

I think your first approach at tackling this should be to the software vendors/creators.

Otherwise, go with the advice from tgell.

Thanks guys and especially "plodr" and tgell, your suggestions lit up tube-light in my head :-D......I got everything pretty simple and straight forward.
What I did is I reinstalled USB enter software on my pendrive via same laptop and then unlocked the space, later I uninstalled the software on USB through USB enter client and tdaaaaa....thank guys for all the help.

Thanks for reporting back what worked for you. This might help someone else that has the same problem.
