Usb Phone, is it somewhat safe 2 open ports

Hello

Are usb phones safe? It seems to me that in order to use one you have to open a port and anyone can come in, or how would people call you via usb?
Am I missing something here?

I'm out of my comfort zone n just wanted an opinion.

I'm more concerned about the open port issue, from what I could find @ Skype/security forum...mostly onesided...some issues with people getting thru without being on ur approved list. Not really concerned about convo (mine r boring) just don't want an open door to my computer. Anyone use usb phones n have any advise? Will ZoneAlarm Pro keep me safe? Have not installed it (phone), just don't want to be a train wreck waiting to happen. If it's more hassle than its worth, rather know now than post in next forum "I've Been Attacked by Aliens" Thanks, Peg

My gut feeling was that I would be asking for trouble n was in an area I did not understand. I will not install, don't need it, just a toy that could cause me a lot of headaches, n don't really like the odds of the coin toss.
