USB plug-ins not detected

After this new OS load, I find when I plug in a USB device, the computer doesn't detect it like it used to, so now the camera and printer won't work.

I'm supposing I could run a systems file check, to repair or replace the missing or problem files, but I don't know which files I'm searching for?

Please advise.

I tried reloading the 98se over the system, then re-installing the peripheral software. I'm thinking I made an even bigger OOPS.

I'll read every word of that link, and add it to my knowlege base.

I suspect the faulty usb problem was in installing Outpost FW, while Tiny Firewall was in and on.

The installing the OS over the OS was a last resort which didn't help.

I finally found the cause of a lot of my PC troubles. Someone donated to me a 98 boot floppie that had an evolved cooled-down verion of natas, ("invisible natas"), that three AVS scanners didn't detect...
On a whim, I opted to delete his boot floppy, and reload it fresh...
1/3rd the way into scanning the floppy, I cancelled the scan and deleted half, then sccanned again, and noticed the AVS scan having difficulty with the scan.. then stopped and restarted the scan, is when it detected natas... He could not have built the virus on his own... I bet it cost him at least twenty-bucks from his computer wizard friend. The rest wouldn't fit in a computer forum... Case closed.
