    Hey Guys,

I`ve been having this problem for a while now, and I was also wandering if it happens to any one else.....

Every now and then I will reset my machine, or turn it on, and when the desktop comes up, my mouse is in the centre of the screen but my mouse does not have any power, as if it wasn't plugged in. To fix it I have to pull the mouse out of the USB port, then re-insert then, then its fine.

Does anyone know the cause of this, how to rectify it so it doesn't happen again? ANY information would be greatly appreciated....

    Sincearly,

    Dave

I had a similar problem when using a Logitech optical wireless mouse. Usually just resetting the device worked for me [either manually {{ie; unplugging it}} or otherwise]
After a while though, I started to get a power surge on one of my hub ports - I'm still not positive it's related to the mouse, but that's my strong assumption.

Perhaps the hardware wasnt installed correctly? try re-installing.

    goodluck!:)

I forgot to elaborate on my mouse, its a Microsoft Basic Optical Mouse 1.0A, it's happened after every clean install, I have tryed ALL USB ports, its happened on each one, I am also using the default windows driver, for the combo keyboard aswell, their isnt a driver for the mouse or keyboard available, never came with one either.

Also of note, whenever someone opens the fridge, or turns a light on/off through-out the unit, or starts the washing or dryer, my speakers POP.

Is this a speaker related problem, or is it a power problem? and is my system getting spiked through it? I am using a 4 port power board for my computer setup, One for my tower, 1 for the monitor, one for the ADSL Modem, another for the speakers. its apparently Surge Protector also, with an ON/OFF switch on the board too, but my speakers still pop.

I am just worried my system is also getting a POP in a diffent way when the fridge gets opened, or the light gets turned on/off, washer on or changes mode, or the dryer. etc

It does not happen when the kettle gets turned on or boils and clicks off, or the lamp in the loungeroom (Touch) gets turned on (By touch) or changes mode (Dim, medium, bright - By touch), or when the aircon gets turned on/off or changes cycle/mode.

    Sincearly,

    David

Might want to get a multi-tester and check the outlets and the surge outlets ...see what the actuall voltage out put is ...
You do have service pack 2 on that machine ....does the mouse have a battery as well?

Just a thought but are your speakers fairly close to either the USB hub or the mouse? If so try moving them away as the magnetic fields from speakers can induce unwanted currents if your mouse cord (for instance) is close to them when the speakers are on.
