USB Port not working!

hi guys,

i have a problem with my usb port behind my computer. everytime i insert a device into that port nothing happens! when i put it in another port everything works fine and detects it!

what could be the cause of the problem? u have pentium 4 with windows xp professional with 4 usb ports.

is there any particula driver or service pack to install. please HELP!!!

Is it onboard or a seperate PCI card or seperate card with wires that attach. If it isn't on your mb their should be some wires attached to MB....make sure all are configured correctly.

 

your motherboard could be broken... check the jack and make sure there is no lint or dust bunnies in it... try to re-install you mother board drivers/usb driver....

have a look in your device manager and see if you have a yellow exclamation mark alongside one of the USB's if so update driver..

 

Have a look inside the computer. If only one of the USB ports work, then the cable could be bad. Or it might not be plugged in at all, or loose.

 

is it one of the wires that separate into many different wires? if so my usb wasnt working once and I relooked at it and I had put one of them on the wrong pin...
