    Hey

    Ok so I went to plug in my Pocket PC into its cradle but when i did that the computer froze. So i turned off the computer and booted it up and now none of my USB ports work? Im really confused because they still get power but the computer doesnt seem to pickup the devices plug in. I also tried plugging new devices into the computer and it doesnt seem to pick them up.

    Could something be wrong with my motherboard, or a virus?

    thx

    Your problem is most likely spyware or a virus.

    You may need to reinstall Windows.

    Have you made any hardware changes recently? You could have a resource conflict.

    no not really, all i did was plug in my pocket pc and everything went downhill from there.

    What about going back to my last restore point?

    Sorry I don't think this is the solution, a reinstall of windows is for dramatic things.

    I would say try and uninstall the USB drivers then reinstall. I had this problem a while ago and this fixed it for me.

    Uninstall Activestink and see if your USB works again. Activestink includes your Pocket PC's USB drivers.

    i think there are problems with some usb 2.0 hubs with earlier versions of windows. if that applies, update to xp sp2.

    Hello,

    My name is Zoe, Im laurie's daughter to anyone who knows her (i think that she posts her problems on here a lot) lol :)

    Im having difficulties with my usb ports and my disk drive (cd/dvd) The ports will not recognise anything that i put in them, ive tried all different devices, and the cd drive wont even open. This all started just after i was downloading music from cd's onto my sony software for a walkman. When i pluged my sony walkmen device into the usb i realised that it was not recognising anything! I followed the help and support advice and the device manager says that everything is working properly! The next step, it advises, is to remove and reinstall the device driver. I just wanted to get an oppionion on it before i did this. I have four different usb ports and they are all not recognising anything that i put in them. If any one has any advice? Thank you

    Try This

    Some Other Thoughts
    I had problems about two months ago and the below corrected my problem!
    --------------------
    First Proceedure;
    1]
    Check for USB Mass Storage Tool Box is installed = Go to = Control Box = Add or Remove Programs = If not shown you will have to investigate how to reinstall this programing?
    ...............
    2]
    1. Then check if the Flash Drive is showing up in My Computer.
    2. If not found try this, download and install and run XPTWEAKUI =
    a) in XPTWEAKUI = My Computer = Drives = and enter a tick in your Drive for the Flash Disk.

    You can download XPTWEAKUI from within the URL of =

    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/default.mspx

    After installing TweakUI you will find TweakUI under Power Tools for Windows XP in the computer’s programs Menu
    **************************
    I also used this as well
    Second Procedure to follow with First Procedure
    ....
    1. If the Flash Drive is showing = in = My Computer = right click on the USB drive = Tools folder = Error Checking = Automatic Fix File System Errors = button - Start =
    3. Next = in My Computer = Hardware folder = Device Manager = select Flash Disk drive = Properties = Volumes folder = Populate = OK button = should show you a list? =
    4. Next go to = My Computer = open up the Flash Disk= view the folder’s contents = Yes. You may see some old files present. If it is vacant try to drag a file into the opened Flash Disk folder page = To confirm all is OK?
    =========================================
    When you are normally using the “Flash Drive” within your computer = do not forget to go to = System Tray = icon - Safely Remove Hardware = Stop = to disable the hardware???
