USB port problems! help!

I have a removable hard drive that works perfectly on other computers but my computer will not even recognize it when I plug it into any of the usb ports. Whats strange is that the other removable usb devices seem to be working when I plug them into the port. The scanner and printer work fine when plugged into the usb ports, but my removable hard drive does not even appear in my computer like it does on the other computers. Is this a problem with my usb ports, or are they not installed properly? I am confused, and help would be very appreciated.

 

Might be an OS issue. Some operating systems do not "detect" the hardware
unless they have been given a driver for the removable disk. Check your manufacturer for info.
