I have an external DVD burner that is powered via USB port. It works fine on other PC's but not mine, any port I try also. My ports are working as I use my IPOD for Itune downloads with the ports. Pls advise.

I use XP Serv P3, Home Edition

May be your USB port connection looses . I had the same problem when i connected my pen drive with my USB port. So the best thing is if possible change the USB port.

DVD burners powered solely by USB usually have a Y-connector and use two USB ports because one USB port doesn't have enough power.

If you aren't using a Y-connector, the computer might not have enough power for it to work.
