usb power surge warning

    hello, i had recent problems with my usb printer, with warning message 'usb device is requesting excessive power, disconnect this device and reset or disable the port' i have d/c all usb devices, reset the ports, and am now getting a usb power voltage warning that will not reset. is this a bad power supply? cpu has been freezing up and shutting down more often. anyone have similar issues or help...thanks
