Did it start to happen after installing Service Pack 2?
As they used to work, and assuming you haven't changed your hardware configuration, you could always try disabling the warning:
To disable the warning, Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device manager, select the the specific USB Controller (expand the [+]), then Properties, Advanced, tick "Don't Tell Me About USB Errors."

on the back of my computer three of four USB ports are full leaving me with three, one on the back and two on the front, i thinkthat the usb port may of been damaged and this is a desktop not a laptop.

    Thanks - Jaymes

i have the same problem with my laptop, but i get it when it put the power lead in the laptop ,so I assume it could be something to do with ur power supply

Its the usb overload protection trip, either its faulty or your overloading it,I dont know anyway round it but to buy powered usb hub, what other usb devices do you have installed,do you get the error when you only install one device

I often got the same error on my laptop with my dsl modem,it drew too much current
