Went to help a friend setup a Linksys Wireless Printer Server the other day.

Did ok only because he already knew the printer's Ip =192.168.1.178

I coulda figured out the Linksys router and print server IPs, but what COMMAND LINE instruction might I use to query any printer that needs to be connected to the print server via USB?

Or any other method of determining the current IP address of a printer (which might not be the default).

The printer per-se would not have an IP; it is the printer server that owns the IP.

In order to make user that every computer can always find the printer, it is usually better to assign the printer server a static IP.

Prior to attempting to print to the printer, I ran an eithernet cable to the Print

Server and it was parked on 192.168.0.1

The IP I used to print was 192.168.1.178.

How did the "job" make it to the printer?

In any case, the HP USB printers (No NIC Card or eithernet port on Printer itself) have no IP address?
