From what I read, Windows is trying to tell you that you have a USB 2 device and it will perform faster if it is plugged into a USB 2 port instead of a USB 1 port. I'm assuming that the device is functioning as is! How many USB ports does your computer have? Go to Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager/ Universal Serial Buss Controllers and see if any say IDE enhanced. This would indicate that you have USB 1 and USB 2 ports. To eliminate the error, plug the modem into a USB 2 port, motherboard manual/owners manual should be helpful with this. :)

an update from microsoft could take care of it too..my mobo manufacurer (gigabyte) says use microsoft's update for USB 2.0....I also had that problem with my mom's computer, the usb ports on the front of the case are only 1.1, but the ones on the back (mobo) are 2.0

I get the same stupid message on my laptop. It has v1.1 USB ports internally.
Nothing I can do about that.
Wish I could delete the message.
I already !@#$%^ know that USB 2.0 is faster than v1.1 Duh !!! Bazza
