    Can you be more specific?

It sounds to me as though your MP3 player has USB 1.1 and your PC has USB 2.0 hardware. They are different versions of USB and are not compatible.

Ok I can confirm that your player is USB 2.0.

I need to know the model number of your motherboard to progress.

Please download Everest from http://www.lavalys.com/ and find your
    motherboard name.

  7. If you dont mind me cutting in, one potential solution is to buy a usb 2.0 expansion card. For like 30 bucks you can get 4 ports of usb 2.0 that will just plug right into your pci as a card. Simple to hook up too.

I'm almost completely sure that your motherboard is USB 1.1.

Maybe you could try doing what "the new tech guy" said. :)

  9. Oh! and one more thing if you install the drivers from the disc ontor a machine with winxp sp2, the driver may not work right. In that case just go to the device manager and update the driver from there and it should work fine.

even if you have a usb 1.1 port you can still use a usb hi speed device, the only drawback is that it will run slower

  11. Well majin that is true although some devices are not backwards compatible with old usb and thus will not run. I would just say invest the thirty bucks (us dollars) and get your self 4 ports of usb 2.0.

ahhh... is that true is it. I've never encountered that before, so I guess you learn something new every day. Even an Ipod plugged into a 1.1 port will still run, so I assumed other players would too.

  13. Oh i kinda noticed that myself as well too. I think that some devices work with the old usb because of backwards comaptibility. Although i prefer 2.0 over 1.1 anyday :) my machine has an old mx3wpro -v motherboard by Aopen and it has 2 1.1 ports on the board which i have barely used scince my 2.0 card was added. But i think we are both right though. Well thats my suggestion. Most usb devices today i think are backwards compatible but i guess some still are not. I would give the 2.0 card a shot and see what happens though. Correct me if im wrong scince im not 100% sure about the 2.0 thing.
    Good luck
