    Hello all. :)

I recently reformatted and reinstalled XP on my computer due to a rather nasty virus.

Everything is fine, except one thing... the computer does not recognise any of my USB ports. Any ideas?

Yes I have installed SP2. However , what do you mean by chipset drivers? Do you mean the motherboard drivers etc? Please help me...

yes, the motherboard drivers. Have you also checked your device manager for any yellow exclamation marks over any usb devices?

No exclamation marks in device manager at all. I'm a little lost on the motherboard drivers though, is that the BIOS etc and the drivers i get from my motherboards website?

BIOS and Chipset drivers are NOT the same thing.
    What motherboard do you have?

OK, here's the deal. I installed the VIA 4 in 1 driver and tried to install the USB 2.0 Driver. After a lengthy download I attempted to install but the installshield setup gets to 99 percent hangs and then just vanishes without starting setup. Whats going on?

Is my pc dead, USB wise? None of them work. What else can I do?

It gets weirder guys... my printer and MP3 Player are recognised in the front two USB ports but nothing else is. My back USBs are not recognising anything. What is going on? Any ideas?

    Hi,

had a similar problem with an older board. Replace the USB driver in device manager with the Windows generic USB hub / host drivers. This fixed my problem.
