I've got this USB RF Reader that I'm trying to read RF tags with through Hyperterminal. Problem is, in order to connect to the terminal I need it to assign the USB reader to a COM port. When I check it under the device manager, it's coming up under USB input devices, and has no COM. Anybody ever messed around with these things? I'm running Win 8.

So it turns out that the reader doesn't connect through a COM port at all (even though the docs said it did....). Coming up as 'USB Input Device', the computer is recognizing it as a keyboard. So, whenever I have a text cursor, and I swipe the tag, the RFid comes up. So for example, I open a blank Word, Notepad, Excel, or even browser window, and place the cursor in a text field, if I swipe, the id comes up. Just in case anybody was curious.
