USB & Sound Card issues

Discussion in 'Hardware' started by lm.butler@btinternet.com, Oct 18, 2007.

  1. My Win XP will not recognise the USB Ports or the Sound card [on the m/board]. [Not this PC but one I am trying to upgrade]
Is there a File I can use to rectify this.

You may have driver problems. Have you gone into the device manager and checked to see if you have any yellow question marks or exclamation points in front of any of those devices?
You can also try to update those devices through the manager. Go to Control Panel>System>Hardware, click the Device Manager button and click on the plus sign in front of Sound, Video, and Game Controllers and on the USB Controllers. Then right click on the items that have the yellow ? or !. Choose install driver and then follow the Wizard propts.
If updating them doesn't work, post your PC make and model #. If it is home built, we will need the Motherboard Make and model.
