I'm running Windows 10 on a 64 bit operation system.

Working late on the laptop one night I must have done something to my 2T flash drive (no name)...either carelessly pulled it out without ejecting...or something.

It's no longer showing up in Windows. I've tried various DOS commands: diskpart, chkdsk /f/r and format...nothing works.

I've tried a few commercial programs (Minitool Partition Wizard, some similar free versions and AOsomething or other. None of them recognize the drive.

I've tried the flash drive in my desktop (running Windows 8) with the same results....not recognized. Device manager shows it working properly. I've updated the thumb drive's drivers.

The drive shows up in Disk Management; I've included screen shots.

I'm totally at a lost as to what to do. I think the drive IS functionable so I'd like to save it. I'm not worried about recovering any data on it. The drive is new and I'd like to try and save it but I'm not worried about saving any of the data that's on it.

Any ideas? Anyone know of a program that might allow me to partition/format/fix the MBR or whatever the problem might be?? I'm totally out of ideas, frustrated and just about over my head.

I certainly appreciate any help. Thanks so much
    Luni

Looking at your disk management picture, I'm not convinced you are seeing the USB stick.
    Here's mine:

Both G and H are internal slots for a compact flash card and an sd card. They are reserved letters and no capacity is showing because nothing is in the slot. They both say Removable, the same as your 2nd shot shows.
My USB stick, Disk 3, doesn't show a letter on the left but rather on the right with the contents showing.

Plodr, before I took the screenshots it was showing up as F which would have been correct on my system. Disk 0 is my primary hard drive C with E as an additional partition. D is my CD/DVD burner and F was the flash/USB drive. The drive letter changed after I mounted a virtual drive to burn an iso file (Partition wizard). Probably didn't eject the virutal before taking the screen shots. :(

2TB USB thumb drives are expensive. Are you sure it is genuine?
You can try diskpart to clean the drive:
Right click start & choose powershell with admin & enter this:
    Diskpart
    List disk
Select disk X (where X is the number of the drive)
    Clean
    Exit
    Exit

Then go to disk management & it should ask you to initialise the drive, allow this then you can format it.
If this didn’t/doesn’t work then the drive make be fake &/or has failed.
Some software which can test for fake drives:

I thought as you did, Virginia that it is probably fake.

    https://www.amazon.com/2-terabyte-flash-drive/s?k=2+terabyte+flash+drive
look at name brands that sell for in the $100 of dollars and then one that sells for $15.91. If I'm buying a 2TB storage drive, I'm only trusting my data to a name brand because they come with warranties.

Better yet, buy a 2TB external portable drive like this
    https://www.amazon.com/External-Har...e_two_browse-bin:7817230011&c=ts&ts_id=595048
for under $100 and more stable than a USB stick.

I own three 2TB portable hard drives all Western Digital.

Same for me plodr. although I don’t need a 2TB USB/thumb drive I was recently looking for a SSD & would not even consider a non branded one.
It’s a San Disk which shows as Western Digital under my disc monitoring software.

Thanks SO MUCH Goddess for the USB test programs link!!
First I followed your directions for using disk part....I got the same result as I did originally. I've attached 2 screenshots (disk part/disk mgr screenshots)
So then I tried 2 of the USB test programs. Neither one detected a flash drive (flash drive tester/h2test screenshots)
Sooooo I guess the thing is fried and I didn't do anything wrong. First time I ever bought a "no name" (especially a drive!) I had never heard about the fake USB drives so, thank you, I learned something new.
Guess I should just throw it in the garbage :(
Thank you Goddess and Plodr for your time and help. I would have wasted so much MORE time trying to figure out what was wrong and correct it.

If it was purchased recently then you can try to return it, if not but is under a year old then complain to the seller. If they ignore you then the drive is most likely fake so bin it.
