Hi, I have this usb wifi adapter made by ISSC, model IS89C35, it works great with of my xp pro desktop, I just popped in the driver cd and it installed fine. I went to install it in a Gateway XP Home desktop and the driver shows the yellow ! and won't install correctly!? I disabled antivirus, firewalls, etc. uninstalled, reinstalled, everything, I can't figure out why XP won't install it, it installs it as a usb storage device but can't install the driver from the cd. I ran windows update too. I get a code 31 - windows can't load drivers error. Anybody have any insight into this? :confused

If you have the driver cd, select manually install drive when you're asked for a driver. You can also do that by updating the driver in device manager. Right-click the device.

Yes, I tried that repeatedly too, even in safe mode, when the pc reboots i get the yellow ! error 31 again.

thats a good idea, theres 4 usb ports on this thing. I ran windows update already, installed 105 updates! I'm working on this for a friend that uses dial-up (agh) The thing has been hardly ever used.

thanks for your input, I ended up doing a repair reinstall of xp and that fixed it! I think when she removed norton she lost some dll's
