I recently upgraded to Win 8.1 from XP. I had a Lexmark Optra E+ laser printer which still would suit my needs but to use it I'd have to buy a paralell to usb conversion cable. Lexmark's site seems to indicate there is no driver for win8. Does anybody have any experience saying it would work? I'd hate to buy a cable just to try it out.

I can't guarantee that it will work, but you could try connecting the printer to the computer and letting Windows Update locate and install the drivers (from within Device Manager). It worked for my Lexmark X4690 inkjet and HP Laserjet 3015.

Thanks Mdonah but I really hate to buy the cable only to find out that it's not going to work for me in the end. I may just have to bite the bullet and upgrade to something else that can scan and print.
