    I am asking if I can use a 5 port unmanaged switch to connect two computers to one internet connection instead of using a router for example,

    modem-->switch--> computers

    Only if your isp will allow you to have more then two ips for no cost. A router is a better solution.

    What is called a Router is a Switch with a Routing circuit.

    Whats the point to forgo the Routing circuit, they cost few $$$.

    Even if your ISP let you use two external IP it is a silly move since your home Network becomes part of the Internet (without Routing you do not have a private LAN) and every body in the world would share with you your computers.
