Useing JAVA applet PLEASE HELP!

I know this must sound stupid but I really cannot find anything on how to work the applet I just created.

I am taking basic java in school but am learning basic game programming on my own time from a tutorial.

I have written the example applet code of a ball moving accross the screen

I know the basic setup for a HMTL document I do not know how to put the applet into it.

Finally once that is figured out how do I actually run the program.

I know that my questions may be scattered but please answer to the best of you ability lol. It will be greatly appreciated.
