    Hello,
I found a demo program called "fps creator" that works on my pc because I still use xp (when i was very young a few dinosaurs still roamed the earth too).
The problem is I cannot get the program to run on the laptop (vista) which my son uses and, ultimately, I want to buy the program for him. When we try to launch the demo on the laptop, we get an error message that advises we must have administrator permission in order to use the software.

I went through your malware removal guide and the laptop runs MUCH better now. *I should note that the UAC seemed to be permanently disabled when I was going through the step-by-step guide. Even if I tried to enable it, when I went back to check, the UAC returned to the disabled status??
As this laptop belongs to my ex (danger will robinson, danger!) I need to be certain I can fix the problem without creating a whole new set of issues.

    The laptop is a-
Compaq Presario CQ60 Notebook PC that has
Windows Vista Home Basic (that only has sp1 installed).

It seems like I have two options,
1-fix the UAC so I can toggle that off thus allowing the fps creator program to function. To that end, I found a download at us.norton.com (http://us.norton.com/theme.jsp?themeid=labs_uac&header=0&depthpath=0)
    that will
"replace parts of the Windows Vista UAC system. It will utilize the UAC security feature from the Windows Vista architecture, while simultaneously improving user-friendliness significantly. The tool prompts recommendations based on an assessment on the user-action i.e. the signature information of the executable. The tool also has a “remember me” feature that allows users to suppress future prompts from the same action."
2- change the fps creator file so it will run regardless of how the UAC is set up.

I'm not being an angry ex, but I know that my ex's boyfriend has pirated copies of several OS and I can't help but wonder if that might be part of the problem??

My son is very bright and this program is a way for me to help him explore whether or not he will pursue a career in game development. Please help me resolve this issue!
