User Account Goes Missing!

Hi! I'm a frist time poster and I'm not sure if this is the correct forum but what happened occured while I was tinkering with my home networkso maybe it is! I run 2k on the two PCs in the network and the laptop is ME. So everything was fine but when I restarted my main PC my usual user name (with admin rights) had disappeared!! The only account I could start with was one with no admin rights. So now I can't change anything on my *****computer! I am no expert (self-taught click-and-see wally) but I normally manage to fudge some kind of solution - however this one has me flummoxed....it's a Catch 22 scenario- to find my old user account I need admin rights and to get admin rights I need my old user account. I would MUCH appreciate any help. And I was really attracted to this site by reading Jim and Tim's friendly introduction - great idea!

 

Ok, well, there is a way to reset Administrator passwords on a 2k pro machine. However, depending on your hardware there are different ways to do it.

At that link, you should download an image and burn it to a CD using ISO mode (using your favourite CD burning app, like Nero), or use the bootable floppy image. Then put the disk you just made in the drive and boot the machine up. You should probably print off the instructions on that website for reference, as they are very important!
