User Accounts and Program Access

Windows XP Home SP2 and both of us have admin rights

My boyfriend and I have separate user accounts on my computer but he is unable to access all the programs on my computer. I thought that with user accounts he should be able to still use all programs installed on my computer, am I doing something wrong? Any help is appreciated.

 

Can you explain in more detail why he cannot? Does he get an error?

 

Sorry. Some programs launch the install wizard and some open the window but it remains black/blank.

 

Not all programs work in multiple account environments.

What applications are they?

 

The most important one is Magic The Gathering Online. The other was Roxio 8.

 

Might sound like a dumb question, but have you got the folders set up for "All Users" under Sharing and Security. I have many similar problems with programmes installed for my daughter, but that's the first place I look. OK, she only has a limited account as I don't want her hacking about in my databases etc but it's still worth a look. In the case of the programme that is going to the set up folders, my guess is that your shortcut is pointing to the wrong file. Try opening it from the exe in Explorer.

 

Private folders only applies to My Documents and subfolders.
