User Accounts

Ok, I have 2 user accounts in Windows XP Professional. One being the admin account & the other being an account for my family members to get on. My question is, how do I customize the 2nd account so they will not be able to access certain files, windows explorer and have certain icons on their desktop?

 

Have you made the "other" account a LIMITED account?
(start- control panel - user accounts - change account - change account type-- and you can make the other one "limited")

If that's all you needed to do (make it limited) then you're set. If you already knew this and it is limited but you need more help (your questions about Windows Explorer and icons...) come on back. My 2 "limited users" have their own icons.

You can have certain files be SHARED or not SHARED. Maybe that's what you're asking. I'll have to get back to you on that, or someone else can.

 

Found a couple more details for you. If you have a folder/file that you don't want to let others see, if you right click on it, select properties, across the top are 3 tabs: General Sharing Customize

For sharing it looks like the below picture. If you do this on your computer and click on the bottom link it will take you to the Help and Support section of Windows XP. Here is part of what that says:
