Uses for old hard drives and cdroms

I’m not sure if this is the right place to put this but here goes. First off, I guess I’d better admit it. I am a Packrat, I am a Packrat, I am a Packrat….. I find it hard to throw things away if there is still some use for it. Over the years I have accumulated many CD ROM drives and hard drives. Does anyone know of any cool or weird projects that I can do with them, or do you know of any web sites that address this issue. Other than using them as kindling for a fire, a less hazardous and more helpful way of disposing of your old computer parts is to donate them.
