Using an NTFS drive on a Win 98 system

    Hi.
I'm away from my own computer for a month, and took my hard drives out so I could use some of the files on it as I have work I need to do. Only problem being that the only computer I have regular access to is an old Cyrix 233 (256Mb of ram) running Win98.

I had hoped to put the drive in as a slave to the FAT32 drive it boots to 98 from, but the BIOS won't recognise it, and obviously Win98 has no native support for NTFS drives, which sadly mine are.

Is there a way around this? I searched and found this page
    (http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/ntfswin98.shtml)

Does anyone know if it works? Does the fact that BIOS thinks there's no drive there preclude me being able to use this program? Will I need a copy of Win2000/XP/NT to get the files it says it needs - if not, is there anywhere they can be downloaded from (I know some win dlls and such are mirrored around the web)?

Well, that was a lot of question. Hope someone can help.

Interesting work-around for NTFS incompatibility. Haven't used it, but don't see any reason why it shouldn't work... IF the only problem was reading an NTFS drive.

The fact that the puter is an old... correction: OLD! Cyrix system points to it being too old to read your newer large drive. Old IDE controllers had hard limits on the size of the drives they could handle. Yours probably exceeds that limit by a large margin. Only workaround for that problem is to use the drive makers formatting utility to do a special format that the older system can work with. That obviously isn't a solution for you, as it would lose all the data you're trying to use.

Yes, the drives in question are 40G and 120G Seagates. What would be earliest model of computer that would be able to handle them? I might decide to get philanthropic and buy a cheap second-hander to replace the antiquated Cyrix.
