Using currently owned games on my new pc...

With pc games, you get a cd key which you use to install the game on your pc.

Can i re-install games which i have used the cd key of onto my new pc?

In other words, can i use the same key twice on two different pcs?

 

Usually, some games will give you grief but contacting the Game Support usually sorts that out.

Games that are online with software such as steam just require the Steam Account to go online so it matters not what PC they are on.

Easiest way to find out is to install them, worst that will happen is it will tell you your key is invalid. If that happens, like I said contact the game maker and ask them for a new key, they will often supply you with one providing you can verify you own the game.

If the game is disk-based for install, it shouldn't be a problem. I've often uninstalled and then reinstalled games on the same computer, or onto a new one when I upgrade, so as long as you have the key it should work.

If, however, you've downloaded a game from a site like Direct2Drive and don't have a hard copy, you may only get a limited number of allowed installs (though you can always contact them for more) - but in this case, as far as I know, you're still free to install onto any system as long as your limit hasn't run out.

 

If your games use SecuROM you get a limited number of installs, usually around 5. If you list your games, we'll probaby be able to give you more specific help.

I recently reinstalled The Witcher, Jade Empire, and Guild Wars on the new laptop and neither of them gave me problems. In fairness, neither of them have draconic DRM in them.
