question. i have two acer windows seven lap tops. one the screen is broken. other the harddrive is broken. is it possible to use the one that has the broken drive hooked into the one that has a broken screen to see on the one that is broken drive.to use the broken drive lap top as a second monitor for the one wth the broken screen . like now i have a desk top monitor hooked into my screen broken lap top.to see .heavy to take places . i was wondering if i could use the dead hard drive one as the screen hoooked into the other lap top busted screen instead of using the desktop monitor . thank you/

Well there are two problems with that, laptop screens connect to the video card of that laptop and unless the laptop has a video card that accepts digital video input which most don't you can't,if the laptop specs accept VGA or HDMI input you can.

The second is I've never needed to as to use one laptop you'll need to have both laptop plugged in and turned on and I personally would know what setting and caveats surface in getting that to work from brand to brand.

And there are other better options such as installing the working screen in the broken laptop if this is the best laptop and the screen specs are similar or simply using the working hard drive in the working laptop.

With either option your would then have a fully functional laptop, where as using two laptops or a screen loses you all the convenience benefits laptops bring, looking to one side which you would have to do to set the laptops up or using a screen is also bad for your neck.

What Rikky means is taking the LCD panel out of the laptop with the dead board, and installing it in the one with the broken screen but live board. It can be done - I did it with my son's HP laptop that his fiance busted the screen on. We had his old Gateway with a dead board, and I was able to Frankenstien the screen onto the HP and it worked fine. With exact equipment it should be a snap. You can usually find illustrated instructions online that show exactly how to disassemble your exact laptop (and, pretty much anything else you can think of!).

If they are the same exact makes and models you could also switch out motherboards & harddrive . . . something to think about.
