Using QuickBooks files from one HDD to another

But if you don't wanna read that, i'll just type out the problem I have.

Alright, a friend of mine owns a Construction company and he uses QuickBooks as a way to keep information on Payrolls and everything for his company.
Well, the computer he had that has QuickBooks on it won't boot normally, so we slaved his HDD on a new computer.
Now, is it possible to get old QuickBooks company information from the slaved HDD to the master HDD?
We installed Quickbooks on the master and tried searching for it in the slave, and nothing can be found.

Any help or information on how to fix this would be great.

Using Windows Explorer, navigate to: C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks Pro\, scroll down until you find the name you use for the company files. See if you see them listed and have access.

Not there, unfortunately.
We already tried that and still nothing.

He says that when he used his old HDD, it would just open up directly to his company listing without searching for anything.

 

Quickbooks willl remember the last place it opened a company file from, whether it's a local path or mapped network drive. But if the old hard drive is now a slave, then it is no longer the C: drive. Substitute the current drive letter of the slave in Steve's path posted above. e.g. D:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks Pro\ If the drive wasn't reformatted, the company file should still be there.
