Using SATA on IDE motherboard

Hi,
I have an IDE motherboard that I've had a few years. Recently I purchased a SATA Hard Drive and a SATA DVD writer, but the system doesn't recognize either. I am using Windows 2000 Pro as it works great and have no reason to upgrade. First I purchased the little bit of a card adapter that goes on to the back of the Harddrive and DVD drive and attach the proper power and data cables to each and then to the motherboard, but didn't work. Next I bought the PCI card adapter but it says that it will wipe out your hard drive and you have to choose a RAID setup option. I will be using just the single drive so not sure about that either. Is there a simple way to make both of these drives work with my IDE motherboard?

Don't use RAID,the card should work normally, or go buy a non-RAID, sata card like

has Win2k drivers and basic SATA ports not a RAID card.

Plugs in the mobo IDE slot and gives you 2 SATA ports, works good.

What little adapter did you get? model? name?

 

Thanks foogoo. That was actually the one I picked up at Microcenter when the tech there suggested this one...BYTECC Slim SATA to IDE Adaptor $19.99. I haven't tried it yet but will try to get it done tomorrow. It connects to your drives and then has IDE connector and 4-pin molex connector. Seems like the same thing but has only one port instead of two. I'll give it a whirl and let you know.
