    Greetings,
Have been reading on how to make a copy of your MBR in case something goes aray.
Now I know the command for copying the MBR to a floppy is:
    Code:
    # dd if=/dev/hda of=/dev/fd0 bs=512 count=1
But I read that restoring the MBR would require you to switch the "if=" and the "of=" now just to make sure I understand that correctly because I know the dd command a.k.a. Data Destruction can cause you much grief if not used correctly :-D would the command be this:
    Code:
    # dd of=/dev/hda if=/dev/fd0 bs=512 count=1
    Thanks in advance :)

i would do 'if' first - but thats just me,

    talking of backups,

this is the way i do it - partimage,

luckily i'm in knoppix at the moment imaging my system with partimage

as you can see from the piccy, there is an option to restore the mbr from the image i'm making,
this is the way i do it now, its easier than relying on a floppy
