I'm certain this has nothing to do with Windows 8 (?!?), however, on Microsoft's Windows 8 computer that I am fortunate enough to be allowed to utilize, Youtube videos stopped working in my Firefox browser some time ago, so I had been opening IE (at the same time Firefox was open) just to view a video.

Now, IE won't open...I click to open it every way that has worked for over 10 years, but it closes as soon as it opens.

Must I now have a THIRD browser open, simply to view a you tube video, please?

    Thanks in advance,
    glen..

Thanks very much...I will update FlashPlayer..

I use MS "Defender" (formerly Security Essentials) but also just installed/updated/ran Iobit Malware Fighter (Free version) a few days ago out of longstanding "habit" (I have always "attempted" to be proactive and preemptive with these things). Before that I had run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (also the Free version) roughly one month ago..

I will take this a step at a time..just not sure if I should do the Read/Run Me operation(s) you linked/suggested first, or update FlashPlayer first..?

Read the above link in it's entirety.

Unfortunately I can't help you any further as I don't have Win 8. Perhaps someone having Win 8 can help you out?

As for Flash Player not working either in Firefox, I don't have the solution either.

Internet Explorer on Windows 8 comes with Flash Player preinstalled; you cannot manually update this Flash Player. Use Windows Update to install the latest Flash Player version.

What are you sure every other OS is able able to install Flash player or upgrade it.

That is another mistake Microsoft has made that is just a plane dumb idea.If they do not allow to manually up date some thing like flash. This is one more reason way i will never upgrade to Windows 8.Too many dumb ideas added.

I have tested it yes and hated it the first beta and it most likely still sucks.Windows 8 is not meant for a OS it should have only been made for cell phones.
