:confusedI like using my older version of Messenger with my hotmail accounts and they seem to work better with my friends on Yahoo IM. It was the version just before the Live version 7.5 I think. I now have the Live Messenger only, one is on my Vista machine and the other on an XP laptop that just had a Windows reformat and is starting clean. Can I run both versions Live and the older one at the same time? The Vista tower isn't as important as the laptop, I do more IMing with the laptop. I have one Live account but several old accounts both Yahoo and Hotmail and each account has a different purposes and contacts. I don't like the linking business and I seem to have trouble connecting to Yahoo people through the Live account. Or do I just need to do more tweaking and blocking? I had the old and new versions on my laptop with XP before it seems, or did I just not realize? Sorry but when things are running smooth you don't always notice.

If you have different accounts you should be able to run the live version and an older version. You certainly cannot log the same account in to both - it recognizes you are already online and logs the other one off automatically.

I think this is what you were asking - correct me if I misunderstood :)

Thanks Lev, and yes I know you can't be on more than one account at a time. Sorry I wasn't clear. Nothing like writing in a hurry. I just like how the accounts seemed more separate in the older version plus they are easier to use with my Yahoo friends it seems. The Live version wants to attach all your accounts together, and I like having one account that is a general account, which is the Live one. I don't need just anyone in the family in to my financial emails and work emails. If they ended up linked who knows, and yes I use separate User ID's with passwords but I still wasn't comfortable. Ok I am a Taurus what can I say. I did get the Live account to Im with one of my Yahoo friends, that was a tweaking thing, so I shall see how the rest goes.
