Using WordPerfect for DOS on Windows

Hello Does anyone know how to use WordPerfect 5.1 (DOS) on Windows 98 without it crashing? I tried increasing the memory in several different areas (got this tip from a Columbia Univ. website on the subject) but it still crashes. I have to use the old WP to be able to download it into the Unix based system at the office I work for. I do medical transcribing at home as well as at the office. In the office I run WP for DOS on Win XP by increasign the memory and it works fine there. Aside from upgrading from Win98 to WinXP, any suggestions?? Thanks and have a great weekend!

There is also Microsoft Virtual PC 2004, which a virtual 98 session can be ran to use Wordperfect, or OpenOffice which should work for WordPerfect.

 

If none of these suggestions work, you could just boot into DOS and start up WP that way.

 

You cannot boot into DOS in XP. Even with 95/98/ME/NT/2k, DOS is not there. You have to use something like DRDOS, or in the OP case, there is alternatives. I of course still have copies of WP10 & 9 laying around in my pile of CD's collected. Anyone that wants them, can have them.
