    Sorry should be "USB", doh!!
I am looking for a simple, preferably free, piece of software to create security in a flash drive, by either: password protect whole drive, or a folder within.
I don't necessarily want to encrypt data, nor do i want to partition and assign a volume size.
I looked at Truecrypt, but it seems overly complicated, with instructions >100 pages, and it wanted to assign volume size.

Actually, I use TrueCrypt on one of my USB keys. I use what is called traveler mode. It creates an encrypted container file on the usb drive. You provide the password and then it mounts the file as a volume. Using this method, you have both an encrypted area and non-encrypted area on the usb drive. You do have to have admin rights on the computer you are using it on. There is a later version of TrueCrypt but the instructions are still valid. I always keep of backup in non-encrypted form and hidden just in case the encrypted file becomes corrupted. When using encrypted drives or files there is always that possibility.

Here is a list of possible candidates. Cannot vouch for any except TrueCrypt.
