Majorgeeks helped me with a horrendous malware problem over ten years ago, with excellent results. Thanks again to all concerned!
My problem now is minor in comparison, but it won't go away, in all-too-familiar fashion. I've run through the current removal sequence, but some of the tools found nothing and didn't produce logs. I've attached the AdwCleaner and Rouge Killer logs. Help me, Majorgeeks, you're my only hope...

Rk doesn't like FreeRP.exe Where did you get it from? I would also like to see the other requested logs even if they don't report anything.

Freerip? Or RK? Freerip from their homepage, RK, from Majorgeeks' link. I've never had any trouble with Freerip before and using it hasn't caused my current malware issue. That was blind stupidity.
Two more logs posted here (sorry I didn't work harder at getting them for my first post), but struggling to get anything useful out of MGtools. I can't even open it now - all I can make it do is open a Windows command prompt that says something about logs.

Please download the latest version of FRST the below link.
Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.

Note: Make sure you download the proper version ( 32 bit or 64 bit ) for your PC. Only one will run, the correct one. So it you make a mistake and download the wrong one, go back and get the other.
    • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
    • Press Scan button.
    • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your next reply.
    • The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

None of your logs are showing any malware. Perhaps you could tell me exactly what issues you are having.

After being foolish enough to click an 'allow notifications' box (I know, I know...), advertising slides onto my lower right screen every few mins, 2-3 inches square, which, if I accidentally click on it, opens up a new tab to a site that causes Malwarebytes to have apoplexy. Not exactly a popup in the accepted sense, but it sits on top of whatever I'm looking at. It has a right arrow that makes it disappear for a moment if clicked, but another ad appears within moments. It doesn't appear to be connected with Chrome. I can provide screenshots if necessary. Yes, I'm an idiot and *really* should know better :-(

Is Chrome you main browser? Do you know what you agreed to allow notifications? Have you reset Chrome to default?

    Reset Chrome to Defaults

Is it as simple as resetting Chrome? I've just done so, will have to wait a while to see if the crapware reappears. So much for my saying 'it's nothing to do with my browser'. Not sure I'm safe to be let loose on a PC unsupervised, frankly. Massive thanks, Tim! Assuming this works, I'll quietly shuffle off now :)

Problem solved! Compared to the vicious trojan Majorgeeks helped me banish over ten years ago, this has been fairly small fry. Nonetheless, huge thanks, Tim - donation coming MG's way :)
