UT2k4 - made for geeks!

I recon that UT2k4 has to be the best made game in quite a long time. All the little things and rewards in it, like Eagle Eye, Flak Monkey, Daredevil, and WICKED SICK etc. and the profiles and just the little things that make it great. Another example, most of the music is actually in .ogg format, so you can play it with winamp if you wanted to! most other games leave all the music encoded into the system files, like the original UT.

Its also addictive! When i get home i just have to have my fix of UT action! Its just so fun!

 

LOL UT's music player also recognizes mp3's, wma's, wav's and mid's. It can read and create .m3u playlists too,

Yup, import your music into the /UT2004/Music directory and then while you're in game, press F11. You can set up your playlists from there, and it even mutes out if you're using voice chat

 

Cool, thanks for the tips about music. I just got this game but have been playing UT since the original and used to make levels. What are Eagle Eye, Flak Monkey.....? I got the DVD version but I didn't watch the tutorial disc yet. Is this stuff in there?

 

Eagle Eye and Flak Monkey are what the announcer says when you make a kill with tank on a moving Raptor, and Flak Monkey is when you get 5 kills in a row with a Flak Cannon

 

Wow, I've never seen a tank yet. Is this in single player? I've only tried multi. Thanks Iceman.

 

Its in single if you play Onslaught. The Goliaoth tanks are on most onslaught maps.

Right now I'm gunna put all my VNV Nation music into the UT directory

 

OK, I tried assault online and there are vehicles. I just have to learn how to get in and drive em. And in case anyone's interested, the tutorial disc in the DVD set is a tutorial for designing levels.

 

Holy #&$@, have you guys Onslaught?!?!?!? All the vehicles are there. It is AWESOME.

Leviathan is the best though but it does seem a bit mean releasing about 15 self guided missiles onto just one person... mwahahah. Best thing ever = getting 2 leviathans, firing at the power core and have a redeemer hit it at the same time, maasssive explosion!!

 

Hey Goldfish (the snack that smiles back) , do you know how to fly the Leviathan? Also, what name do you play under? I usually play as Tater. Maybe we can team up in a goliath.
P.S. I haven't found a redeemer in any Onslaught map and I don't even know what that remote control bomber looks like but I've seen the bombs dropping....sweeeeeeet. So much to learn.....

 

Redeemers are there... and leviathans dont fly to my knowlage. I play under Goldfish usually.

 

I've seen people fly the Leviathon, but no one wants to say how. If I find out I'll let ya know. Also, when using the anti-vehicle rocket, it says you're supposed to keep aiming at the target so it homes in but it's hard to see thru the smoke. How do you make it home in?

 

You hold alt fire, which locks onto the target. you still need to get it within reason... like if your raptor goes behind a piece of landscape you can keep tracking it, but when it gets within your range again.

Hmm, flying Leviathon ... sounds like a cheat or somthing to me. I dunno though. The deployed fire is crazy-ass though.

Yeah well... thats what happens with demos. The next patch will stop it from happening though, you'll be glad to hear. Now im off to try it out in a 1 player game

 

How did it work Goldfish? It was pretty clever for someone to figure that out huh?

 

Hmm, interesting. What you do is fly a manta over in front of the levi, get into the levi, drive over the "wing" of the manta, then deploy it. Then you get in the manta, and try and fly off... but you take the levi with you at the same time!?!

Its got somthing to do with the "stabilising" feature on the levi (so it doesnt go flying in the opposite direction when you fire the main gun), where it attaches itself to the coordinates on the ground the same way as buildings are attached to the ground, but it does that to whatever surfaces the wheels are touching. So it the ground drives off, so does the levi Interestingly enough, when deployed the levi ignores textures and other surfaces (since its not supposed to be moving at all), so its possible to fly it through a wall

It sounds like someone found it by accident, where they drove over a manta by mistake and deployed, and someone got in the manta and they suddenly found themselves blasting around the place

You can also "walk out" of the level if you ram a raptor into a corner with a levi, and get out hehehe

 

Now you made me have to play RIGHT NOW. Off to onslaught......
