Utorrent/IE explorer problem

When I run Utorrent or Limewire for some reason the internet stops working. It will not connect to any sites. But when i use shareazaa this does not affect how the internet works. I am still connected but I access a website. I am using vista

 

Im actually having same problems with sharazaa now. This only happens to me when using a dell by the way

 

In uTorrent you can set your up- and download speeds and also your bandwidth size....seems to help if you set bandwidth to low and upload speeds to 10 kbs or lower.

 

As Musksnipe has said you have to limit your upload speed in utorrent, Limewire etc.. If you leave upload speed unlimited then IE will not have any bandwidth free to communicate with or load webpages. You don't have to worry about Max Download speeds since these are hardly ever reached.

There is a fairly accurate speed test in utorrent: under options select speed guide. Close all torrents so nothing is using any internet bandwidth. Choose Flash Test. Pick a nearby server. When the results are given divide the upload number by eight. Deduct about 10% of this number and use this result in utorrent as your global maximum upload speed.

Example: My upload result on speed test was 574
574 / 8 = 71.75
71.75 * .90 = 64.575
My Global maximum upload should be set to 65\kBs in utorrent

There other speed tests out there but this one will give a decent estimate. You can add a few kBs to your Global Max starting from your estimate until you see IE slow down.
