Okay here is the deal. I'm getting about 300kbytes downloading stuff from the internet but I won't get over 5kbytes on utorrent or vuze. I thought it was a router problem but I connected my modem directly to my computer and it does the same thing. Now windows firewall is disabled, I have no other firewall on the computer. When I go to speedguide / test if port is being forwarded it will give an error saying port ***** is not being forwarded then I refresh and It will say it is being forwarded and then refresh and its not so somethings up there.

I'm behind my router, I just connected directly into it to see if it was my router blocking utorrent which it wasn't because even directly connected to the modem with no firewall my downloads are at 5kbytes max.

maybe just too few seeds? =)

However, if you have static ip and you are behind router, you should adjust port forwarding (googlr for smth like "utorrent port forwarding").

Also, double-check, maybe you have bandwith restrictions inside the torrent client itself.

Also, if you are under WinXP SP2 (correct me if i'm wrong), you have to install TCP\IP patch, that will allow to use more than 10 connections at the same time.

    hope it helps...

Your ISP may be throttling Bittorrent connections.

Try downloading OpenOffice as a torrent from the official site. This will give you an idea of what your max download speed could be. There are many seeds and virtually no uploading necessary.

Check out PortForward.com to open a port through your router. Use a high number like 59888.

Make sure your upload limit is 80% of your maximum. So if potentially you can upload at 85kB try 70kB as global upload max.

Ditto. Even if they say it's only 'tailoring' speeds so that all users can benefit.rolleyes
