uTorrent

    did a search and didn't find anything in regards to slowing internet speed...i've used utorrent b/c it's supposedly the best torrent client...but once i have uTorrent running, in internet speed slows down significantly, nothing loads quick...is there something that i should set up utorrent correctly (ports?)...or basically that's it...i have the current 1.7.7, but in previous versions, it was slow internet speeds as well, so i dont think it has anything to do with the version..thanks

    Hi

    This is natural occurance as you are maxing out your internet connection with downloading torrents, I would imagine that when you stop using uTorrent your internet browsing is back to normal speeds?

    What you could do is tweak a few of the uTorrent settings and see if it speeds up your browsing a little.

    • Lower global max connections to say 50 this setting is found in Preferences > BitTorrent
    • Lower net.max setting to around 4, setting is in Preferences > Advanced
