Various problems since I've removed a virus.

I recently somehow got a virus apparently called "Win32Trojan.TDSS"

Through much hassle, I seemed to have gotten rid of it. (boot into Safe Mode, used ComboFix, which deleted a bunch of files, then used AdAware, Malwarebytes, Spybot, and AVG free -- all of which, along with Zonealarm, were installed when I somehow got this virus. I also used CCleaner too.)

Anyhow, I've run numerous scans (with hidden folders shown) since then, and also installed "SUPERantiSpyware" as recommended on this site. I seem to be clean now.

    But, I've encounted several problems:

    1. The DVD/CD combo drive changed function and label in "My Computer"
    2. Cannot run Defrag
    3. Cannot run Disk Management (nothing shows up)
    4. Cannot repair using WinXP install disk from within the OS
    5. Will not boot to disk during boot up
    Details:

    1. Under "My Computer" it used to have 2 drives for the DVD combo drive; a CD drive, and a DVD drive. It now only has 2 CD drives, with identical readings when clicked on.
If I try and run certain games, they think I'm running emulation software.
If I try and play a DVD, it won't run, and while the files are recognized in explorer, most of my software won't play them. I haven't tried to burn a DVD yet.

    2. Cannot defrag. "Disk Defragmenter could not start." I've researched online, but nothing seems to help.

    3. Disk management. It's empty, nothing there.

    4. When I try to install (repair) Win XP from within the OS, it fails in the early stages, saying something about "Cannot access" or "install to C" or something like that.

    5. When I try to install/repair from boot up, my system won't boot from the CD, though of course it's set to in the BIOS.

Well, now what? I suppose I could try and physically uninstall, then reinstall the DVD combo drive. I've already tried uninstalling it from the OS, but it just reinstalls next startup (the 2 CD drives, one of which is treated as an emulator by certain games).

So if I can't even repair with the WinXP disk, for God's sakes what can I possibly do???

    Arghh!

I was afraid you were gonna say that!

Okay, I'll report back in a week when I'm done with all the procedures LOL!

    thanx
