VBScript problem

I am trying to use VBScript with asp to select fields from a database than are available for ticking on a web page, and then use the information server side to uipdate teh table.

I am not familiar with VBScript and having problems

On the cleint I have the line:
Response.Write rsItem("Participants") & ": "
Response.Write "<Input type = checkbox name = 'C" & j & "' value = " & rsItem("Participant_ID") & ">"

The idea is that I am creating a form elemnt called Cj which will be C1, C2, C3 etc as j increments

On the server side I have:

rsItem("participant_type_id") = Request.Form("C'" & i & "'")

The idea being that I am collecting C1, C2, C3 etc from the form.

The problem is that the form elements all seem to be blank

I think I am making a really simple coding error and would welcome help
