vcd copying

I am trying to copy a V.C.D. to my laptop so that I can make a D.V.D. movie with the contents and some other photo's.
My problem is that with approx. 60 seconds left to copy, I get a message as shown.
I've tried Windows moviemaker-adobe premier elements 12-imgburnand copy disc
Using HP Pavilion dv6 -quad core amd a6- 6gb ram &plenty of H.D.D space Windows 7 home premium
Any suggestions?

Are you coping the DAT file off the disk to your computer when this happens?
Just rip the video using vcdgear from
http://www.videohelp.com/tools/vcdgear
Then author the mpeg to a DVD.

 

foogoo, Many thanks for your reply, but I'm way out of my depth, will be taking C.D. to local shop tomorrow, let them have the headache.
