    Hi

How can I transfer my old VCR movies onto my PC? My VCR?DVD player has an S video outlet. What cables/software/graphic card would be needed?

    Thanks in Advance

Been there, done that. The main thing you'll need is a digitizer of some kind. They come in all flavors, mine is an ATI 8500 video card with a TV tuner built in. You can get external varieties, or a capture only card. Because of the wide variation, whichever way you decide to go only a few people will be able to help, those with a similar setup more than likely.

Let's start with the basics, what kind of comptuer you have, things like CPU, CPU speed, amount of RAM, and size of hard disk. If you have a video card with a built in digitizer we'll need to know that too. This is important because the hardware dictates how well you can do it. We'll also need the operating system you use.

Get the right mix of hardware and software and it is a dream, go the other way and you'll need hair transplants. I'm almost bald, so you can tell how mine went. Finally figured it out to my personal satisfaction, and it'll go easier for me the next time round.
