veiwpoint media player is this spyware

    i have something called viewpoint media player on my computer again and i know my friend removed it last time she was here cause she said its spy ware

    can anyone confirm if this is really spyware

    It is not really spyware. It is just junk that 99% of all people do not need or use. It is forced on you whenever you install anything from AOL. It can be uninstalled from Add/Remove programs. It is a waste of system resources.

    i removed viewpoint from add/remove programs then i tryed deleting the viewpoint folder in my program files but i get a message saying delleting renaming or moving veiwpoint could make some programs not work

    so what should i do

    First check to see in any other Viewpoint stuff is installed in Add/Remove programs. Sometimes there are several different one. Like Viewpoint Manager, Viewpoint Toolbar etc. Uninstall all of them. And then delete the folder if it still exists and ignore any error messages.

    i couldnt find any other viewpoint things on my add/remove programs and i deleted the viewpoint folder

    could viewpoint have slowed down my laptop that much im asking cause now that i deleted it my laptop seems faster

    and it hasnt been lagging when i surf the internet how much resources does viewpoint steal anyway

    I'm not sure how much it slows PCs down but I do know that it is a waste of system resources. Especially since it is always running (even when not needed) and no one even knows it is there and I don't know anyone yet who has really needed it.

    Just like having qttask.exe (Quicktime) or realplay.exe (Real Player) running at startup, they are not needed and waste resources.
