Ventrilo/Game Mic problems.

Hello,
I have been using ventrilo and gaming for over 8 years now, and this is the first I have had with this problem. One night, I'm on Ventrilo with some buddies and I load up counter-strike. All of a sudden my mic goes to crap in-game and in Vent. I close the game and it fixes itself. Re-open it and it works again. This happens with every game on my PC. I haven't changed any hardware, or put any new software on. This just came out of the blue. I have tried updating drivers on my soundcard and nothing seems to work. Any ideas?
