if your os works, why are you worried about it? you can always go buy it yourself for 250.00+ and know forsure.

    lol

Do you have a Product Key, Certificate, EULA ( you said you don't have a CD). When MS starts insisting on you verifying your XP being legit (which should be sometime in the near future), if you don't have a legit copy you won't be able to update Hotfixes. Just wondering what you would do if you crash and have to do a reformat and clean install....

Unless somebody here knows a way around that??

if you download everesthome, found here at major geeks(thanks to goldfish for pointing that out), it will tell you everything about your system......even the cd key! that is one handy tool everyone should have.

it wont tell you if it is valid os, but for lost keys, reformatting, benchmarks, and just getting easy to use info on your system......its a god send:p

yeah i pulled the cd key off of it already and have the registration number, but can't be for certain it is working properly. the hard drive i don't have any problems with however when i format and create a new boot drive to replace the current hard drive i get read mem errors and can't run some or install some programs. i was wondering if the os had anything to do with it or maybe the software i'm using to format/transfer is bugged (maxblast 3). in many of the forums i've read people using maxblast 3 and not being able to create a successful boot drive. i'm currently checking write ups on formating and using xcopy to hopefully be able to create new boot drive w/o outside software.
